Pastor Phil Sears Assistant Pastor

"I enjoy reading, especially technical books and manuals, and anything that increases my ability to understand God's Word better and live it as I ought. And of course, I love Tigger and Eeyore, and my favorite expressions are 'Praise the Lord!' and 'Amen!' "

Phil and Bonita began attending EGCC in 1994. Phil served as an elder for 6 years, church moderator for 2.5 years and became Assistant Pastor in September 2004.

Phil was born and raised on a farm in the Corning, NY area. He attended Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem, NC from 1966 until 1970. In 1969 he married Bonita. After graduation, Pastor Phil served in a couple of churches in North Carolina as worship leader, deacon, SS superintendent, and adult teacher. He pastored Quackenbush Hill Community Church, Corning, NY from 1974 until 1977 where he was ordained. In 1994, Phil received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Sciences, and a Masters of Ministry degree with emphasis on Bible languages, exegesis, and interpretation principles from Baptist Bible College and Seminary.
